ED Concierge Volunteer (Age 18+)

Emergency Department Concierge volunteers play a vital role in providing patient-centered care. As a concierge volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Welcome and Assist Guests – Greet patients and loved ones with a smile, guide them to their destinations, and provide personalized assistance with their visit.
• Support Hospital Operations – Escort patients to various hospital departments, assist with special projects, and assist staff with creating informational packets and mailings.
• Make an Impact – Be a welcoming and supportive presence in what can be a stressful time for patients and their loved ones.

Chaplain Volunteers (Age 18+)

Are you called to provide compassionate spiritual care in a healthcare setting? Mason Health’s Volunteer Chaplains play a vital role in addressing the spiritual and emotional needs of our patients, their loved ones, and our dedicated staff. You will have the opportunity to:

• Provide Empathy – Offer emotional and spiritual support for patients and their loved ones grounded in their faith.
• Offer Services with Integrity – Grounded in your faith community and supported by relevant professional training and education, you can offer support that honors and respects the diverse cultural and religious values of patients and loved ones.
• Connect with Staff – Provide spiritual and emotional support to the professionals at Mason Health, which in turn helps them provide the best patient-centered care.

Culinary Volunteers (Age 18+)

The Culinary Volunteer aids the Culinary Nutrition Services Staff at the Mason Health Bistro. This position requires an active Washington State Food Workers Card or the ability to obtain one before starting. Volunteers can choose from three exciting positions:

• Hospitality Cashier – Assist with transactions for patients, visitors and staff members while ensuring the cafeteria remains sanitized, orderly, and well stocked.
• Entry Food Production – Support food preparation by following recipes and practicing safe knife-handling techniques.
• Advanced Food Production – Take a hands-on role in preparing proteins, batch cooking menu items, assisting with inventory, and creating meals for patients, visitors, and staff.

Gift Shop Volunteer (Age 18+)

Volunteers in the Auxiliary Gift Shop have a unique opportunity to raise money for student scholarships and the Gift Shop is manned solely by volunteers! All proceeds go toward scholarships for students and Mason Health Employees entering medical professions or furthering their education. Help fundraise while providing:

• Customer Service – Greet and assist customers in finding their desired items, providing friendly customer service.
• Displays – Arrange and maintain product displays to create an inviting shopping environment, while keeping the shop clean and organized.
• Special Projects – Help with promotions, prepare gift baskets, and more during your time with the Gift Shop.

Office Volunteer (Age 16+)

Assist and support various departments, including Marketing, Volunteer Services, and the Development Office! Volunteering in the offices provide the opportunities to:

• General Office Support – Keep the office running by responding to emails, answering phone calls, and helping with meeting preparations.
• Individualized Tasks – Data entry, volunteer onboarding, mailing organization, and other specialized projects based on departmental needs.
• Event Coordination – Help organize and realize fundraising events by either participating in the events or assisting in event preparations.

Are you interested in a career in the medical field? Mason Health’s Job Shadow Program offers a unique opportunity to observe medical professionals in action and gain valuable insights into the daily responsibilities of various roles. Individuals aged 16 and above are eligible to job shadow as many positions as you wish.

Whether you are exploring different areas of expertise, curious about the day-to-day life of a delivery nurse, or looking to build connections with the Mason Health team, our program is a great starting place for your exploration of the medical field. Job Shadows are usually scheduled for one day, 4-8 hours. Multiple job shadows are available, whether it be in a different department or a different position all together. Job shadows are not hands-on and will not directly impact patient care.

When a person is undergoing a difficult time in their life, they often turn to the support of a Chaplain. Our Volunteer Chaplains are available to listen to concerns, provide spiritual comfort, and spend time with patients, staff, loved ones, and anyone visiting at Mason Health. To reach out to a Chaplain, ask a staff member who will be able to call a Chaplain for you.
