SHELTON, WA – When you need quality health care for yourself or your child, driving to a location outside of your community can be inconvenient, time-consuming and challenging. In line with that commitment, Mason Health is welcoming five new providers to Mason Clinic this summer in specialty services, including Cardiology, Eye Care, Pediatrics and Women’s Health. Rodney Badger, MD, Cardiology: Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Badger is a graduate of Stanford University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American studies, was a member of the academic honor society Phi Beta Kappa and was a Rhodes Scholar nominee. He obtained his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Washington. Dr. Badger has completed a fellowship from the Ford Foundation and traveled to Brazil to investigating the cause of a high percentage of child births via Cesarean Section. He speaks fluent Portuguese and has completed faith-based mission trips to Brazil.
Dr. Badger has worked in private practice in the Bay Area and in Provo, Utah, and has worked in academic medicine at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Utah. He enjoys golf, riding motorcycles, black and white photography and skiing, and even took a sabbatical recently to work as a full-time ski patrolman at Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah. Dr. Badger loves hearing each patient’s story and believes that those stories make medicine so intriguing. He has a wife, six children and 14 grandchildren. Dr. Badger started at Mason Clinic at the end of June.
Aditya Mehta, MD, Eye Care: Dr. Mehta is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery and retinal conditions. He draws on his extensive experience in complex eye surgeries and trauma care to provide expert clinical treatment and instruction, bridging the gap between advanced surgical techniques and patient care. Dr. Mehta began his education at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of New Mexico. He then earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
Upon graduation from residency, Dr. Mehta was stationed to El Paso, TX where he served as medical director of William Beaumont Army Medical Center Warfighter Refractive Eye Program, performing thousands of eye surgeries. While in the military, Dr Mehta deployed oversees, functioning as the sole military ophthalmologist for all US and NATO forces in Iraq. Dr. Mehta values charitable work and has volunteered on medical missions in South and Central America, performing cataract and pterygium surgeries. When he is not at work, his hobbies include bike riding, rock climbing and spending time with his wife and young daughter. Dr. Mehta started at Mason Clinic at the end of June.
Jewel Park, MD, Pediatrics: Dr. Park received his medical degree from Korea University in Seoul, South Korea, and started out his pediatrics residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio, later completing his residency at Los Angeles General Medical Center. He is passionate about injury prevention as well as preventing misinformation and strives to provide evidence-based medicine to all his patients regardless of their cultural or financial background. In Dr. Park’s free time, he likes to hike on trails, go to the ballpark for a baseball game or read a book. He has a special interest in global health. Dr. Park started at Mason Clinic at the end of July.
Nikki Ann Medina, DO, Women’s Health: Nikki Ann Medina, DO, is an obstetrician-gynecologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to women across all stages of life. Her clinical focus includes preventive women’s health, contraception, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and patient education. She is especially passionate about empowering patients through shared decision-making and evidence-based medicine. Throughout her training, she has prioritized building strong, respectful relationships with patients and colleagues. She believes that quality care stems from listening carefully, communicating clearly and staying up to date with the latest medical advancements. She is also committed to equity in healthcare and strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patients.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Medina enjoys travelling the world, experiencing other cultures and languages, which helps her stay grounded and connected to the communities she serves. In between travelling, she prioritizes physical well-being, trying new local restaurants and spending time with friends/family and her dog. Her special interests include education, access to reproductive health care and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Medina starts at Mason Clinic at the end of August.
Meghan Olson, MD, Women’s Health: Dr. Olson grew up in the Pacific Northwest, graduated from Linfield College in Oregon and joined the Peace Corps after her undergraduate degree. She served in Cambodia, which sparked an interest in global health care. She completed a master’s of science degree in International Child Health from University College London, in the United Kingdom, and returned to work in Cambodia and later in Zambia and Afghanistan. Dr. Olson’s interest in women’s health and medicine for underserved communities grew during her years abroad and eventually led her to medical school at Washington State University, with residency training in obstetrics-gynecology at East Tennessee State University. She is excited to be back in her home state of Washington with her husband and daughter. Her special interests include global health, substance use disorders in pregnancy and sexual health.
