SHELTON, WA – Known for his unwavering commitment to patient care, Registered Dietitian Zach Chomicki, RD, helps out his colleagues with a positive attitude and willingness to step up when needed. His high energy and dedication to patients are some of the reasons that his coworkers have nominated and selected him as Mason Health’s March 2025 Employee of the Month. Chomicki’s innovative nutritional counseling and collaborative approach have significantly enhanced the health and well-being of the community.​

Chomicki grew up outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and became interested in nutrition and exercise as he grew older and learned more about healthy living.

“I grew up with an unhealthy lifestyle and fell for the marketing that you fall for when you look up how to be healthy,” he said. “I eventually started to learn evidence-based science behind nutrition. I decided I wanted to help people and answer their questions so they wouldn’t fall for the misinformation.”

Chomicki graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2020 with a focus on health promotion and wellness. He also obtained his personal trainer certification and entered a bodybuilding competition in 2018. After completing his undergraduate degree, he completed a master’s degree to become a registered dietitian, graduating from the University of New England in August 2023.

In October 2023, Chomicki started work at Mason Health, bringing a wealth of knowledge in clinical nutrition and a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles. He has been instrumental in developing personalized nutrition plans that cater to the diverse needs of our patients, demonstrating empathy and expertise in equal measure.​ Beyond his clinical duties, Chomicki has actively participated in community outreach programs, offering educational workshops on nutrition and wellness.

“Part of what I love about what I do is the science and the communication piece,” he said. “I like to debunk the online misinformation and help people make changes when they might be feeling frustrated or discouraged. I enjoy problem-solving with patients.”

He came to Mason Health because he wanted to move to Washington and felt excited about the culture in the District.

“I’ve worked at bigger hospitals during graduate school and for clinical rotations,” he said. “Those were great experiences, but I felt like the dietitians weren’t appreciated as much. I never got to know the nurses and providers. At Mason Health, it is a much better fit and I know I’m part of a larger team.”
