MASON HEALTH HONORS SHERRY CURTIS AS JULY 2025 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Release Date: Jul 21, 2025
SHELTON, WA – Mason Health is proud to recognize Sherry Curtis, Learning & Development Specialist in the Education Department, as our Employee of the Month for July 2025. With more than three decades of dedicated service, Curtis has become a cornerstone of Mason Health’s commitment to excellence in education, training and community engagement.
Curtis began her journey at Mason Health in March 1993 as a certified nursing assistant on the medical floor, quickly transitioning to the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. Her passion for learning and helping others led her to the Education Department in the late 1990s, where she has flourished ever since. Over the years, Curtis has held multiple roles including Education Assistant, Instructor, Education Coordinator, and Health Educator, always going above and beyond to support staff development and patient care.
Her contributions span far beyond the classroom. Curtis played a pivotal role in setting up Mason Health’s Learning Center, coordinating student internships across nursing, diagnostic imaging, respiratory, and lab departments, and leading essential trainings in workplace violence prevention, customer service, safety and more. She is also a familiar face at Mason Health Foundation events and actively promotes health care careers to local students.
“It’s not even about the pay anymore,” Curtis shared. “I just want to help people and take care of my grandbabies. Mason Health is like family to me.”
Her colleagues echo this sentiment, describing her as a beacon of positivity and dedication. “Sherry truly goes above and beyond in everything she does,” one nomination read. “She’s taken on multiple roles—educating our staff, leading orientations, running CPR and other essential training classes, and even coordinating student involvement. Despite her busy schedule, she consistently brings warmth and a smile to her work.”
A lifelong learner, Curtis is currently pursuing a Master’s in Educational Design and Information Technology in Adult Curriculum, adding to her existing Master’s in Teaching. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling — especially to Germany and London, where her son lives — and cherishes time with her nine grandchildren and extended family.
