Release Date: May 29, 2025
SHELTON, WA – Mason Health is proud to announce that Christina (Tina) Lohmeyer, RN, from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), has been selected as the Mason Health 2025 DAISY Award recipient for Extraordinary Nurses. Lohmeyer was honored on Monday, May 12, during Mason Health’s DAISY Award Ceremony held during National Nurse Appreciation Week, which overlapped with the District’s Mason Health Week celebration and the American Hospital Association’s National Hospital Week, on the 205th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
“Our DAISY committee was incredibly moved by the nominations this round,” said RN Supervisor Carol Williamson, co-chair of Mason Health’s DAISY Awards Committee. “Tina exemplifies every value that Mason Health stands for. Her compassion, her commitment to clinical excellence, and the way she builds meaningful connections with her patients, families, and coworkers truly represent the spirit of the DAISY Award.”
One of Tina’s nominations highlighted a moment of extraordinary compassion:
“Today was my husband’s funeral, and I couldn’t attend because I was hospitalized,” the patient said. “Tina helped me access the Zoom link so I could be there virtually. She sat with me, provided comfort, and made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Tina was very comforting and especially kind.”
Another patient family wrote: “Tina went above and beyond to care for my mom while she was in ICU. Tina gave me 100 percent confidence that if I needed to leave that my mom would be cared for. She was gentle and kind and sweet and always on top of the care. She was positive and always optimistic which helped so much. I credit Tina for my mom’s full recovery.”
Lohmeyer’s colleagues also recognize her as a true leader. A supervisor shared that “Tina stepped up during a critical shift as House Supervisor, supporting staff with professionalism and grace. She remained calm and uplifting during a chaotic day, setting a tone of excellence for the entire team.”
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of the national DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate care that nurses provide patients and families every day.
In 2025, Mason Health proudly recognized nominees from across departments, including: Patricia (Tricia) Agnese, RN; Megan Corbin, RN; Ryan Estreito, RN; and Krystal Prouty, RN; all from the Medical-Surgical-Pediatrics Unit, and Andrea Welander, RN, in Surgery.
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee of Mason Health staff, including frontline nursing professionals and department leaders. Each DAISY honoree receives a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch, created by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
