Matt McCormick
McCormick joined Mason Health in February 2021 after working in facilities management for State Farm through CBRE. He grew up in Graham, Washington, where he graduated high school in 2013, and later served four years in the U.S. Army as an infantry soldier, including a deployment to Korea. After his military service, McCormick transitioned into facilities maintenance roles across the region, honing his expertise in HVAC, electrical, and general maintenance.
“Getting out of the military, I wanted a job where I could use my skills,” he said. “I’ve always been handy—working on cars, figuring things out—so facilities work felt natural. Every day is different, and that keeps me on my toes.”
A typical day for McCormick ranges from plumbing repairs to electrical fixes, facilitating work for Mason Health’s ongoing construction projects this year, and even tackling unexpected challenges like roof leaks at auxiliary clinics. His proactive approach and pride in his work shine through in projects like repainting an old diesel tank near the loading dock — an initiative he took on himself to ensure the hospital looks its best for patients and visitors.
“I try to take pride in how the building looks,” he said. “I want people and taxpayers to be proud of being here. I also value staying positive, which I know is due to my mom. Everybody has bad days, but if you stay positive, it makes everyone’s day go easier.”
His coworkers praise his reliability and team spirit.
